We stayed pretty well on track this month although I did a horrible job taking pictures the first week.
Week 4 Transportation (Tt)
Lots of trucks, trains, and other transportation this week. We read oodles of books - probably over 40 different books this week and most we read multiple times. I noticed that the kids really enjoyed train books especially.
A really big "t" maze we did. Ephraim was struggling with the false turns of the maze, so we used two different colors - yellow for testing and then purple for the real way! He did so much better after we started using the testing color.
Tabi's favorite was using dot paint again. This was another kind of maze we do where you have to follow all the "T"s and "t"s to get from the beginning to the end. Tabi even found an error! See the random purple spot at the bottom of the page unconnected to the others? That wasn't an error on Tabi's part, but an extra "t" that didn't belong. What a smart little cookie!
Week 5 Ash Wednesday/Lent Week

Week 6 Valentine's Week
We celebrated Valentine's a week after the actual holiday since Ash Wednesday was Feb. 13 and it ranks quite a bit higher in this house as far as days we celebrate/commemorate. Anyway, the kids don't really understand or care if we do things when "normal" people do them.
Joie coloring while the big kids did school. Pretty sure she's trying to color another crayon here.
Ephraim waiting for the next instruction on the "Listen and Color" page.
Tabi did a great job on this page too!
Here she's writing her "T" on the back - for some reason she started making her "T"s small and sometimes she gives them a line at the bottom.....pretty sure she's a little envious that Ephraim has so many lines to make in his "E". He likes to make them all different colors and hers are a little boring.
Our big project this week was a painting for the grandparents. We dipped cookie cutters in paint. Since I did this when Ed was at work, I did not get an action shot of Joie. It would have resulted in paint everywhere. Regardless, when you see the pic at the end of all three we did, you'll see her little smears (hot pink) whenever I glanced away for a split second.
Tabi had fun doing this too and picked purple of course - notice that without my hand guiding she's off the canvas at the top? One canvas shows a double of the heart she's doing because I helped her slide it back on.
Each kid got to do two different cookie cutters. Ephraim chose red and did pretty well by himself, although he wanted to wiggle the cookie cutter instead of press it down and then lift.
They looked a little......empty to me.....what else do they need?
Ephraim showing his favorite - a smear on his big double red heart.
Joie's favorite - smears of pink fingerprints at the bottom.
Tabi picked the one that she did nearly perfectly to show.
Here's how they turned out! We decided to add the word "LOVE" on each one and the kids got a lesson in mixing colors - we wanted to stick with Valentine-y colors, but didn't have any others, so we made lavender with a little white and purple.
One for Nana and Papa - one for Granma and Granpa - one for Mama and Daddy which is proudly hanging on our living room wall.
Week 7 Pets (Cc) Week
Lots of books about cats and dogs this week - if I didn't have a strict "no animals in my home" rule, I'd be pretty tempted to go get a puppy or kitten. (4 kids 4 and under is enough "animal" for me!)
The kids always love constructing letters. They got through "C" pretty quickly and Ephraim was excited to make a "J" for Joie.
Tabi thought she'd try out the "S", but found it a little bit challenging.
Coloring in their Alpha Tales reproducible book of the week. I love that I can copy them a book that follows our big book that we read about each letter. At the end of the year, they'll have a book for each letter of the alphabet!
Ephraim was coloring the Cc Cheer which uses an awful lot of "C" words.
Contemplating how to get the cats on the left to the yarn on the right.
Joie never likes to be left out, so she brought her Minnie toy over to the table where we were working.
And talked her Mama into putting her in her chair so she could see what was going on too.
Coloring a C page with a cat.
A great month overall - can't wait to see what we get into this next month!!
