Merry Christmas 2012

Dear Family and Friends,

Merry Christmas!  We're thankful to have the opportunity to share a little bit of our family with you during this blessed season.

Life around here is pretty boring.......and if you believe that, I've got some ocean-front property to sell you right here in beautiful Colorado!  (Just joking!)

Ed has been the pastor here at Bethany for over four years now.  We have been blessed to see some growth in the congregation this last year and our kids are no longer the only ones in church!  Ed keeps himself busy at church and we love the time we get to steal with him at home.

Jenna is still staying home with the kids - they keep her pretty busy.  In her spare time she sells un-needed items to clear space in the house and bring in some extra money.  She also recently installed curtain rods in one room (more to come) and made some curtains so we can finally feel like we're "home" and surrounded by things we love.

Ephraim is 3 1/2 now and the most curious little guy.  He is obsessed with football and baseball and often combines aspects of both into his own game.  He talks incessantly and asks questions constantly.  He's still on the small side, but eats more than his Mama most meals.  Good thing we eat healthy around here!

Tabitha is nearly 2 1/2 and follows her brother in every fool plan he has.  Usually she takes it one step further and ends up getting hurt.  She is forever needing kisses for some scrape, bump, or bruise.  Tabi has been potty training since we came home from our mid-west trip this fall.  She's doing really well and only wears diapers for nap and bed now.  She is super-excited at moving into Ephraim's room and a big-girl bed once she's completely trained.

Both big kids love school at home with Mama a few days a week. It's a new adventure we're exploring and it's going well so far.

Johanna turned 1 in October and has recently discovered the magic of stairs.  Every time we turn around she's heading up to her room!  Last week, we had to bribe her up each and every step with her favorite stuffed animal.  Maybe we shouldn't have made her go all the way up.......she's mastered it now, though!  She's still not too interested in walking, but has started cruising a little, so it probably won't be too long.  Joie enjoys playing with her brother and sister even though she really doesn't get what they want her to do.

We started eating a "primal" diet last spring and have really enjoyed the changes - basically we've gone grain-free and sugar-free.  It has added some challenges to our daily lives, but we're pretty good with it now and follow it without too much trouble.  We have seen many benefits throughout the family - weight loss, a clearer mind, better behavior, and a multitude of other less-pleasant-to-read-about benefits, the details of which you will be spared.

Well, guess that's all we've got going on here.  We pray that all is well in each of your homes and with each of your families.  We think of you often and miss you.

With love,
Ed, Jenna, Ephraim, Tabitha, and Johanna Maanum
