2012 Goals - How did I do?

So, how did I do on my 2012 goals?  Well, let's review my post from last year here. For simplicity's sake, I've opted to copy the actual goals, but not my commentary on them.

1. Lose weight - SUCCESS! - I have not weighed this little since I got married!  It feels good, although my body still feels much older than I think it should.  I have aches and pains that belong to a much older person than I feel that I am.

2. NOT have a baby in 2012 - SUCCESS! - This is pretty much self-explanatory.

3. Do more art projects and Slow and Steady activities with the kids - FAIL! - I did start doing a little bit of school with the kids, but I did not manage many art projects and did horribly with Slow and Steady.  Guess what's going to be a goal for 2013?

4. Post blogs regularly - FAIL! - I did not do well with this, so I'm debating another pic-a-day goal in 2013 - it really helps me to post each day, even just a pic and a little comment.

5. Monthly menu planning - SUCCESS & FAIL! - We did well for a little while and then we changed our whole diet.  We set up an overall weekly menu which helps, but lately we have been veering quite far off the plan.  More to work on to simplify our lives.  We also switched to eating our big meal at lunch each day which is nice, but it also means the responsibility for cooking lies much more with me than my cook-husband.

6. Table cleanup quickly after each meal - SUCCESS! - Overall, I would call this a success.  I don't do it everyday, but for the most part, this happens.  It helps that we use the table for school and puzzles and so it needs to be clean.  It has pretty well become a routine these days and I really hate when it hasn't been cleaned (like this morning)!

Last year I had another goal that I didn't write down - to write a little comment about each day on a notecard.  I started my year with 183 notecards cut in half (total 366) so that I had one card for each day.  I found a cute little basket for them and each night before I go to bed, I mention one thing about the day that stood out to me - a first tooth, a fun trip to the zoo, a need for more sleep, etc.  Amazingly, I have not missed a single day!  I guess I could manage to screw it up in these last five days of the year, but I doubt it.  This has also become a routine for me and I plan to continue this for many years noting the most important detail (or details sometimes) of the day.  I can't wait to add new details to the cards next year and the year after!

So....not bad overall!  Out of 7 goals, I had success in 5 and failure in 3 - yes, I know that adds up to 8, not 7.  Writing these down really did help me and not just written for m self, but written where others could read them - this made me feel much more accountable and so in the next week I will be writing up next years goals.......I have way too many already.  :-)
