Last week we were all set to head out to the Children's Museum for our Adventure Tuesday....and then Tuesday happened. Ephraim had two accidents that morning, Tabi was in the midst of potty training, and Joie didn't nap. I just didn't have the strength. I was disappointed in myself (and in the kids), but it's what I needed to do to preserve my sanity. However, I was worried that this was going to derail my Adventure Tuesday plans.
Enter today - our next opportunity for Adventure Tuesday - this week was Tabi's choice and she chose the playground, with the zoo before. So off we went to the zoo again. The kids requested the hopping spot and the penguins again, otherwise they didn't really care what we saw, so I chose to do the long walk around the back of the zoo, ending with a walk past the hopping spot (Ephraim "hopped" more than 15 ft!!) and a little side trip to the penguins.
Tabi didn't wear a diaper - she told me she would be fine in undies and she was! No accidents! Ephraim listened well and modeled good behavior for his sister. Joie was her normal easygoing self - she rode in the backpack and enjoyed seeing what there was to see until she conked out.
The big kids had a good time at the playground after the zoo. Ephraim went down the largest slides he could find, multiple times. Tabi kept climbing to the top and then chickening out. Finally she did go down a big slide just before we left. Joie slept through our whole playground time.
On our way home, we added a little extra fun to our adventure - we filled the van up with gas (Exciting, I know!) and then got a carwash. Ephraim and Tabi thought it was awesome - they loved waiting for the spray to come to their window. Joie did not enjoy this experience at all! Good to know for next time.
