New Front Door

Even though we browsed our options and chose our new door back in December, due to a non-standard-sized door (requiring a new choice), an in-stock door out of stock, and a couple of super-cold days, we just got the door put in a week ago.

Here's the inside view of our old door (the window is actually plexiglass).

Here's the outside view with our storm door which didn't latch.

One of our installers removing the old door.

Cleaning up before starting the new door installation.

Measuring the new door

Fitting in the new door.

Yowsers!  Look at that gap!  That can't be good!

Shimming the door jam.  It wasn't possible to make the door flush and square, since the door opening wasn't and there wasn't the space to make it so.

Finally found a slightly cockeyed position that allowed the door to work correctly.

The door looks only a little off.  You can see it at the bottom and the top.  They were able to reinstall the molding, but had to cut it down to make it work.  I'm hoping that painting everything will improve the look!  At least we don't have 1/2 inch gaps where the freezing cold air is blowing through anymore!

The new outside view.  Better and worse at the same time.  It definitely needs painted.  I love that the transom is no longer hidden up above.  The bottom of the door really shows how out of level (at least compared to the house) it is.

All in all, we are loving our new door!
