This afternoon (alone!) I headed to one of our local thrift stores to find a swimsuit for Tabi. (We had two here in her size, but neither of them fit right - one was a two-piece where the bottoms didn't fit over the diaper, and the one-piece came so low in the front that I could almost see her belly button - so much for modesty.)
The thrift store has a super-Saturday sale (and all this weekend b/c of Memorial Day) so nearly everything was 50% off. I quickly found a suit in Tabi's size and four more in the next size up. (I even found one a size bigger than that and because it was 50% off, it was only $1.) Then I picked up a couple of skirts with "undies" built-in. She loves them! I also found some summer jammies for her - 6 suits, 1 jammies, 2 skirts - total $11.
Then I started shopping for me . . . . . since I've been losing weight lately, none of my clothes fit well. Most of my jeans/pants/capris/skirts nearly fall off of me. I started with jeans and then I just couldn't stop. (Per my weight-loss bet with my hubby, I have $100 to spend on new clothes. Ever the frugal one, I figured I'd work the local thrift stores first, before filling in my wardrobe with actual-price clothes - gasp!)
Here's what I've gotten so far:
4 bras - $6
4 pairs of shorts - $14
5 skirts - $15
6 shirts - $15
4 pairs of jeans - $14
4 swimsuit parts (a one-piece, two bottoms, and one top) - $11
4 pairs of capris - $13
31 items for $88 and I still have $12 to spend . . . . not sure what else I need except a shirt to go with one of the skirts I got . . . . . and maybe some underwear that fits. Guess that will round out my $100!
Maybe I'll get Ed to take a picture of me in one of my new outfits soon! I can not wait to purge my current clothing - YAY!!
