Last month Ed had a Pastor's conference in Estes Park, so the kids and I went along. We stayed at a congregation member's vacation home and cooked our own food. This simplified much and gave the kids and I place to hang while Ed was in his actual conferences. The second day there, he had sessions in the morning, but was to be done at 11am and free until 7pm. The kids and I decided to tag along - the conference was held at the YMCA of the Rockies. It's a huge complex with cabins everywhere and lots to do.
We started at the Livery - the kids loved looking at the horses and ponies.
We even saw turkeys at the livery.
In light of the trip to Disney next month, the kids thought this trail was pretty cool!
Then we headed to a little playground. It was just the right size for the kiddos. Ephraim and Tabi love slides, but they go down it differently - Ephraim always sitting and Tabi always on her tummy.
I finally convinced Tabi to go down on her bottom - she loved it!
Ephraim had to go down "her way" then.
Next we walked (okay, they rode in the stroller and I pushed them) to the library. We enjoyed watching the prairie dogs dashing here and there.
Aren't the mountains beautiful? I couldn't stop taking pictures of them.
After we found out the library was closed for training, we drove around looking for another playground. The kids liked this one, but it was much too big for them. I had to lift them up to the platform - the steps were too tall.
See how high up Ephraim is? Tabi decided to drop backwards off this platform. I guess she thought it was like dropping off of Ephraim's bed at home. It was a little farther than that and she landed flat on her back. She was none too happy at that point. She was/is fine though.
After Ed finished his session, we headed out on a drive. We debated going up into the mountains more, but since it looked stormy, we decided to take a more leisurely drive. We headed down toward Boulder and then looped back up to Estes Park.
We planned to stop by Lily Lake and walk around it (and tire the kids out so they would take a nice nap during our drive). It was gorgeous when we stopped, but by the time we got the kids out, the wind was so strong that I could barely even push the stroller. Since none of our kids are overly fond of wind, we decided to skip the walk.
When I got out of the car to take the above picture as we came back into town, I noticed a cute little chipmunk. Then he came right up to see me.
Here are some elk hanging out in town - a very common occurrence.
We finished our day with a walk through town and we stopped for ice cream. Jo really enjoyed it.
