Jo's Baptism

Johanna was baptized on Sunday, October 30 in our church, Bethany Lutheran by her daddy, Rev. Ed Maanum. This year the calendar is the exact same as it was 62 years ago - the year that my dad was born. After a week-long stay in the hospital (standard at that time), October 30 was the first Sunday that my dad could be baptized (which he was by his grandpa). We didn't know this when we decided to do the baptism Sunday, but it's a great little coincidence and a special connection that Jo and Grandpa will share.

Snuggling Baby Jo - it was chilly in Daddy's office getting dressed.

Got the Baptismal Gown slip on - very, very thin - Jo's name and baptismal date will be embroidered on the bottom after the previous wearers (Mama, Ephraim, and Tabi).

Adding the gown itself.

Nana made Jo's bonnet (love the Dutch look), the bib was Mama's,
and Jo's got little pink shoes on that match the pink in the bib.

Here's our little family after church.

Mama, Daddy, and Johanna standing in front of our church's baptismal banner.
Love that Ed wore his chasuble since it was Reformation Sunday - I love it!

Since Johanna was only two days old and I'd been out of the hospital less than 24 hours, we didn't have time to make or buy a cake. So, on the way home from church, Ed stopped at the store and picked up a giant cookie. He even took the extra time to have it iced with her name. What a great Daddy!
