This week has been crazy. Fed up with the inspector, we asked him to do his job. His response was to offer a refund and take back all paperwork he has filled out for our loan. At this point, we figured we either had to deal with his ineptitude or give up the house we have fallen in love with.
Over the last few weeks, we have been unable to get anyone to work with us - not our loan officer, not the underwriter, not the inspector. The only one who has been in contact with us is our contractor - whose bids were over $36,000 to repair the house when we only have about $16,000-18,000 to work with.
Last night our loan officer called to help us with all of our difficulty. He calmed me down and reassured me that we don't have to do all the work our contractor suggested. He let me know that we don't have to work with the inspector, that we are able to get our loan without him. I felt 1000% better and felt good about the house purchase for the first time in a few weeks.
Then, this morning, we were told that our loan officer no longer works at the bank. And, when we asked our contractor for detailed bids of all the work he and his subs are planning on doing, he jumped to the conclusion that we no longer desire his services as a contractor.
Not really sure what's going to happen next, but guess we'll have to just wait and see.
