Our First Trip

Nearly two weeks ago, Ephraim and I took our first airplane ride to St. Louis to see my homeroom class from last year graduate from 8th grade. This was a good practice flight for our longer trip to North Carolina in a week. Ephraim was a good baby for the flight . . . no crying or disrupting other passengers.

My students were excited to see me. A few were disappointed with Ephraim's name. One student, Drew, continuously called him "Little Drew". Another student, Nathan, called him "Little Nathan". However, my favorite was from my student Claire. She called him "Clarence".

While we were out in St. Louis we also got to visit with some college friends. Ken, Carl, Liz, Grover, and Hattie were all excited to see us as well. And, we were excited to see them and meet Grover and Hattie's daughter, Catza (spelling?).

Carl with Ephraim. Carl claims never to have held a baby before this. He says that he was told often as a child, "Don't touch breakable things!" I assured him that he would not break Ephraim. Carl was amazed that his thumb was so much bigger than Ephraim's whole hand, so we snapped a picture of that too.

Carl looks like a natural and Hattie and Grover look so happy with their Little Sweetie!
