. . . but a hectic one. In the last ten weeks (71 days), we've spent a total of 8 nights at home together in our apartment, 12 nights in Lansing, 6 nights in Bremen, 14 nights house-sitting in St. Charles, and 31 days in various hospitals. (Now to be fair, I spent 4 of those hospital nights in our apartment either alone or with my mom while Ed was in the ICU.) We were planning on spending another month house-sitting for some friends, but complications arose as they always do and the homeowners are coming home tomorrow. This adds to the complications - changing dialysis locations, mail forwarding, driving without HWY 40, packing up a hodge-podge of stuff that has accumulated in the few days that we've been here, etc.
Despite all the complications that life has been throwing at us, we had a wonderful Christmas vacation surrounded by family and friends. We were able to see all five of our nieces and nephews, both sets of parents, all of our siblings, nearly all of our grandparents, a collections of aunts, uncles, and cousins and a few of our friends. For the first time in the last ten weeks, we were truly able to relax and rest away from the bustle of school and hospitals. It was wonderful.
Now we're getting back to the grindstone. Ed's been working on homework this afternoon and I've been cleaning house and packing up. We both go back to school tomorrow. I haven't taught a full day since before Thanksgiving, (I was blessed with a leave of absence to be with Ed) so I've got a lot of work to catch up on too.
More posts will come soon. I'm sure they will have pictures of the kids and info about what else is happening in our lives. Hopefully none will be about the hospital unless it is to get Ed back on PD, which we are both praying can happen next month. I guess this is all for now. Ciao!
